Indian Air Force Agniveervayu Recruitment 2026: Apply Online for Intake 02/2027
The Indian Air Force (IAF) has officially released the recruitment notification for Agniveervayu Intake 02/2027 under the Agnipath Scheme. This highly anticipated recruitment drive invites online applications from unmarried Indian male and female candidates who wish to experience the military way of life and serve the nation for a glorious period of four years. Eligible candidates from Meghalaya, the Northeast, and across India can submit their applications online starting from July 6, 2026.

- Aadhaar Card Requirement: Candidates must enter the last four digits of their Aadhaar number. However, candidates from Meghalaya, Assam, Jammu & Kashmir, and Ladakh are exempted from this rule if they do not possess an Aadhaar card.{inAds}
Complete Eligibility Criteria
1. Age Limit & Date of Birth Block
- Candidates must be born between July 1, 2005, and January 1, 2010 (both dates inclusive).
- If a candidate clears all selection stages, the upper age limit as on the date of enrolment must be 22 years.
2. Marital Status and Rules
- Only unmarried male and female candidates are eligible.
- Candidates must sign an undertaking promising not to marry during the 4-year engagement period. Marrying during the service tenure will lead to immediate dismissal.
- Female candidates must also undertake not to get pregnant during the engagement period. Pregnancy will lead to dismissal from service and debarment from regular cadre selection.
3. Educational Qualifications
Science Subjects:
- Passed Intermediate / 10+2 / Equivalent examination with Mathematics, Physics, and English from a recognized Central/State/UT board with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate and 50% marks in English.
- OR Passed a 3-year Diploma Course in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Automobile, Computer Science, Instrumentation Technology, or Information Technology) from a recognized Polytechnic institute with 50% marks in aggregate and 50% marks in English (in diploma or matriculation).
- OR Passed a 2-year Vocational Course with non-vocational subjects like Physics and Mathematics with 50% marks in aggregate and 50% marks in English.
Other than Science Subjects:
- Passed Intermediate / 10+2 / Equivalent examination in any stream/subjects with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate and 50% marks in English.
- OR Passed a 2-year Vocational Course from recognized boards with 50% marks in aggregate and 50% marks in English.{inAds}
Note on Fraction Marks: Exact aggregate percentage before the decimal will be considered. For example, 49.99% will be treated as 49% and will not be rounded off to 50%.
Mandatory Physical & Medical Standards
- Height for Male Candidates: Minimum acceptable height is 152 cms.
- Height for Female Candidates: Minimum acceptable height is 152 cms. However, a relaxed minimum height of 147 cms is accepted for female candidates belonging to Meghalaya, the North East, or hilly regions of Uttarakhand. (Lakshadweep candidates require 150 cms).
- Weight: Proportionate to height and age as applicable for IAF.
- Chest (Male): Well-proportioned with a minimum chest circumference of 77 cms and a minimum expansion of 05 cms.
- Chest (Female): Well-proportioned chest wall with a minimum expansion range of 05 cms.
- Hearing: Normal hearing ability (must hear a forced whisper from a distance of 6 meters by each ear separately).
- Dental: Healthy gums, good set of teeth, and a minimum of 14 dental points. Fixed or removable orthodontic appliances make a candidate unfit.
- Visual Standards: Visual acuity of 6/12 in each eye, correctable to 6/6 in each eye. Hypermetropia maximum limit is +2.00 D and Myopia is -1.00 D (including up to 0.50 D Astigmatism). Color vision standard must be CP-II. Candidates with a history of LASIK or PRK surgery will not be accepted.
- Body Tattoos: Permanent body tattoos are prohibited. However, tattoos on the inner face of the forearms, back part of the hand/reverse side of the palm, and traditional tribal tattoos may be considered subject to approval. Offensive or racist tattoos are strictly banned.
- Narcotic Drugs/Alcoholism: Zero tolerance policy. Possession, consumption, or distribution of substances banned under the NDPS Act 1985 will lead to instant rejection or dismissal.
Pay Scale, Allowances & Benefits
Agniveervayu recruits will receive a customized monthly package of ₹30,000/- in the first year with fixed annual increments. Risk and hardship allowances, dress and travel allowances, along with rations, clothing, accommodation, and Leave Travel Concession (LTC) will be provided.
Seva Nidhi Package Break-up:
- 1st Year: Package of ₹30,000/- (In-hand: ₹21,000/- | Corpus contribution: ₹9,000/-)
- 2nd Year: Package of ₹33,000/- (In-hand: ₹23,100/- | Corpus contribution: ₹9,900/-)
- 3rd Year: Package of ₹36,500/- (In-hand: ₹25,550/- | Corpus contribution: ₹10,950/-)
- 4th Year: Package of ₹40,000/- (In-hand: ₹28,000/- | Corpus contribution: ₹12,000/-)
Upon exit after 4 years, candidates receive approximately ₹10.04 Lakhs as a Seva Nidhi Package (consisting of their total accumulated corpus of ₹5.02 Lakhs plus a matching government contribution of ₹5.02 Lakhs, excluding interest).
Additional Benefits:
- Insurance: Non-contributory Life Insurance Cover of ₹48 Lakhs for the duration of the engagement.
- Leave: 30 days of Annual Leave per year, plus Sick Leave based on medical advice.
- Skill Certificate: A detailed Agniveer Skill Certificate highlighting competencies acquired will be provided at the end of the tenure.
- Regular Cadre Opportunity: Up to 25% of each specific batch of Agniveervayu will be enrolled into the regular cadre of the IAF as Airmen based on performance and organizational requirements.
- Status Note: Agniveervayu personnel are not entitled to Ex-Servicemen (ESM) status, gratuity, or pensionary benefits.{inAds}
Step-by-Step Selection Process
Phase-I: Online Test
The Phase-I test will be objective and bilingual (English & Hindi, except for the English paper). Admit cards will be sent to registered emails 48-72 hours before the exam.
- Science Subjects (60 Mins): Physics, Mathematics, and English as per 10+2 CBSE syllabus.
- Other than Science Subjects (45 Mins): English (10+2 CBSE syllabus) and Reasoning & General Awareness (RAGA).
- Science & Other than Science Combined (85 Mins): Physics, Mathematics, English, and RAGA.
- Marking Pattern: 1 mark for a correct answer, 0 marks for unattempted questions, and a negative marking deduction of 0.25 marks for every wrong answer. Marks will be normalized across multiple sessions.
Phase-II: Document Verification & Fitness
Shortlisted candidates will receive a new Phase-II admit card. Candidates must report with colour printouts of their application form, Phase-I admit card, 8 passport photos (taken with a black slate in front of the chest showing their name and date of photo in white chalk), and original educational documents/DigiLocker verified certificates.
Physical Fitness Test (PFT):
- 1.6 Km Run: Male candidates must complete it within 7 minutes; Female candidates within 8 minutes.
- Male Exercises: 10 Push-ups (1 minute), 10 Sit-ups (1 minute), and 20 Squats (1 minute) with designated breaks.
- Female Exercises: 10 Sit-ups (1 minute 30 seconds) and 15 Squats (1 minute).
- Adaptability Tests: Includes Adaptability Test-I and Adaptability Test-II to check suitability for military deployment across varied geographic terrains and weather conditions.
Phase-III: Medical Examination
Medical examination conducted by the Air Force Medical Team will include baseline investigations like Blood Haemogram, Urine RE/ME, Biochemistry (Blood Sugar, Serum Cholesterol, Urea, LFT), Chest Radiograph, and ECG. Female candidates will undergo lower abdomen and pelvis ultrasonography.
How to Apply for IAF Agniveervayu 02/2027
- Go to the official registration portal at https://iafrecruitment.edcil.co.in from July 6, 2026 onwards.
- Complete Step-I by entering personal and contact details to generate OTPs on your mobile number and email ID.
- Log in with your new system-generated credentials to fill out communication, educational qualification, and domicile details.
- Upload scanned copies of your recent passport-sized photograph (with a black slate), your signature (black ink), parent's signature (if under 18), and your left thumb impression. A live image capture will also occur via webcam to verify facial features.
- Pay the non-refundable application fee of ₹550/- plus 18% GST online using Net Banking, Debit/Credit Card, or UPI.
- Submit the form, preview details for errors, and print/save a copy of the final PDF for future reference.
