Detailed Eligibility Criteria

  • Relaxation: For SC, ST, and PwBD candidates, a mere passing mark in the aggregate is sufficient to apply.

However, they must be able to produce their final marksheet, provisional degree, or course completion certificate meeting the required percentage criteria on or before July 31, 2026.

Compensation Package & Service Bond

Salary & Allowances

Selected candidates will be placed in the E0 Grade pay scale of Rs. 30,000 - 1,20,000/- with an initial basic pay of Rs. 30,000/-. In addition to the basic pay, candidates will receive Dearness Allowance (DA), other perquisites, allowances, and terminal benefits admissible under the company rules in force during training and after absorption.

Placement & Transferability

Candidates will undergo a compulsory one-year training program at various locations. The final place of posting will be assigned upon successful completion of training. The postings can be at any of the Stations, Projects, Joint Ventures (JVs), or Subsidiaries of NTPC across India, and all positions are transferable at the discretion of the management.

Service Agreement Bond

Before joining, selected candidates must execute a service agreement bond to serve the company for at least 3 years after successfully completing their one-year training:

  • General / EWS / OBC Categories: Rs. 2,50,000/-
  • SC / ST / PwBD Categories: Rs. 1,25,000/-{inAds}

Selection Process

The recruitment process for the Assistant Chemist Trainee position consists of the following phases:

  1. All India Online Selection Test: Eligible applicants must appear for a computer-based test consisting of two segments:
    • Part 1: Subject Knowledge Test (Testing core chemistry expertise)
    • Part 2: Executive Aptitude Test
    • Note: Candidates must qualify separately in both parts of the online test.
  2. Document Verification: Based on the category-wise merit list generated from the online test and the total number of vacancies, candidates will be shortlisted for document verification and further selection processes.

  • Offline Mode: Candidates can print a specially designed "pay-in-slip" from the online application portal and deposit the fee at any nearby State Bank of India (SBI) branch. The amount must be credited into Account No. 30987919993 at the CAG Branch, New Delhi, on behalf of NTPC. Ensure that the bank provides a unique Journal Number and Branch Code, which must be entered during the online application process.
  • Online Mode: Candidates can directly pay the fee through Net Banking, Debit Card, or Credit Card while filling out the online application form.

Required Documents to Upload

  1. Class X Passing Certificate / Marksheet: Serving as proof of Name and Date of Birth.
  2. PAN Card: A clear copy of the PAN Card.
  3. M.Sc. (Chemistry) Degree / Provisional Certificate: Final year students who are awaiting results must upload their latest issued marksheet. If the specialization listed on the degree varies from the advertisement, an equivalence certificate from the institute must be uploaded.
  4. Final Year or Consolidated Marksheet: A transcript clearly showing the aggregate percentage of marks across all semesters.
  5. CGPA to Percentage Conversion Formula: A document from the University/Institute indicating the formula to convert CGPA/CGPI/DGPA/CGI/CPI into percentage. This is not needed if the transcript already states the marks in percentage.
  6. Valid Caste / Category Certificate: Issued by a competent authority in the prescribed Central Government format. OBC-NCL certificates must be valid for the Financial Year 2026-27. EWS candidates must submit an Income & Asset certificate for FY 2026-27 based on the income of FY 2025-26.
