The Office of the District School Education Officer (DSEO), West Jaintia Hills District, Jowai, has released the official admission notification for Umlahdkhur Eklavya Model Residential School (EMRS) under Amlarem Block for the academic session 2026-27. Eligible candidates belonging to the reservation categories of the block, district, or state can submit registration forms offline starting September 16, 2026. Admission Eligibility Criteria & Age Limits
To appear in the entrance test, candidates must belong to the eligible reservation categories of the block, district, or state. The age criteria as of March 31, 2026 (including children born on April 1) are defined as follows:
- Class VI: Minimum age limit is 10 years and maximum age limit is 13 years.
- Class VII: Minimum age limit is 12 years and maximum age limit is 14 years.
- Class VIII: Minimum age limit is 13 years and maximum age limit is 15 years.
Document verification for residence proof, age, and reservation eligibility will be conducted by the District Selection Committee after the declaration of the provisional merit list.
EMRSST Exam Pattern & Syllabus Details
The Eklavya Model Residential School Selection Test (EMRSST) is an offline exam of two hours' duration consisting of 100 objective-type questions carrying 100 total marks. The medium of the examination is English, Hindi, Regional Language, or bilingual.
- Mental Ability Test: 50 Questions / 50 Marks
- Arithmetic Test: 25 Questions / 25 Marks
- Language (English) Test: 25 Questions / 25 Marks
- Total Structure: 100 Questions / 100 Marks
There is no prescribed syllabus for the exam. The question paper is strictly framed around competencies matching the Class V level prescribed by NCERT, SCERT, or CBSE.{inAds}

- Step 1: Download the registration form format from the official Meghalaya Education Department portal (

- Step 3: Attach required supporting documents such as birth certificate, domicile certificate, and reservation proof.
- Step 4: Submit the completed offline application form to the designated collection center or designated office on or before September 30, 2026.
- Step 5: Collect the issued admit card from the designated portal or center on October 6, 2026, and appear for the EMRSST on October 9, 2026.
