Eligibility Criteria & Qualifications
Candidates must fulfill the qualifications and teaching experience criteria mandated by the National Medical Commission (NMC) Teachers Eligibility Qualifications (TEQ) guidelines.
Age Limit & Faculty Status
Upper Age Limit: Up to 70 years of age as of April 30, 2026.
Eligibility of Retired Faculty: Retired faculty and doctors from Private Medical Colleges, Institutes of National Importance (INIs), and other Government Medical Colleges within India are fully eligible to apply.{inAds}
Educational Qualifications & Experience
For Professor Posts
Education: MD / MS / DNB in the concerned medical subject. For preclinical subjects like Anatomy and Physiology, an MSc with a PhD is also acceptable.
Teaching Experience: Must have completed 3 years of service as an Associate Professor in a recognized medical institution. Armed Forces medical officers with 3 years of specialist experience as an Associate Professor are also eligible.
Research & Training Requirements: Must have published at least two research publications as one of the first three authors after becoming an Associate Professor. Completion of the Basic Course in Biomedical Research and the Basic Course in Medical Education is mandatory.
For Associate Professor Posts
Education: MD / MS / DNB in the concerned medical subject.
Teaching Experience: Must have completed 5 years of service as an Assistant Professor in a recognized medical institution (or 6 years if appointed directly as an Assistant Professor in a Government medical institution). Armed Forces Specialists with 5 years of post-PG clinical experience or consultants with 1 year of experience in a minimum 220-bedded government hospital plus 1 year as an Assistant Professor are also eligible.
Research & Training Requirements: Must have published at least two research publications as one of the first three authors after becoming an Assistant Professor. Candidates must also possess completion certificates for the Basic Course in Biomedical Research and the Basic Course in Medical Education.
Tenure and Terms of Contract
Initial Contract Period: The appointment is purely contractual for an initial period of 1 year, extendable based on performance and institutional requirements.
Maximum Tenure: The maximum fixed tenure is up to 7 years ($4 + 3$ years) or 70 years of age, whichever comes earlier.
Private Practice Restraints: Private practice of any kind, including laboratory and consultant practice, is strictly prohibited during the contract period.
Notice Period: The contract can be terminated by either side by giving one month’s notice or by paying one month’s salary in lieu of notice.
Bond Agreement: Selected candidates must sign a fixed-term bond agreement of 1 year upon joining. Early termination can attract a proportional penalty.
