The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has officially released the notification for the Combined Hindi Translators Examination, 2026. This is a prestigious opportunity for language experts to join various Central Government Ministries and Departments as Junior and Senior Hindi Translators.
Candidates from Meghalaya and across India are invited to apply for these Group ‘B’ Non-Gazetted positions. The recruitment drive aims to fill 84 tentative vacancies.
SSC Hindi Translator Post Details and Pay Scales
The recruitment covers several specific roles across different government sectors. All positions carry All India Service Liability.
- a. Junior Translation Officer (JTO): Central Secretariat Official Language Service (CSOLS). Pay Level-6 (₹35,400 to ₹1,12,400).
- b. Junior Translation Officer (JTO): Armed Forces Headquarters (AFHQ). Pay Level-6 (₹35,400 to ₹1,12,400).
- c. Junior Hindi Translator (JHT): Various Central Ministries. Pay Level-6 (₹35,400 to ₹1,12,400).
- d. Senior Hindi Translator (SHT): Various Central Ministries. Pay Level-7 (₹44,900 to ₹1,42,400).
SSC Hindi Translators Educational Qualifications (as on 01.08.2026)
To be eligible, candidates must possess the following qualifications by August 1, 2026:
For Post Codes a, b, and c (Junior Level):
- Master’s Degree in Hindi with English (or vice versa) as a compulsory subject/medium at degree level.
- AND Recognized Diploma/Certificate in translation OR two years' experience in translation work.
For Post Code d (Senior Level):
- Master’s Degree criteria as above.
- AND Recognized Diploma/Certificate in translation OR three years' experience in translation work.
Scheme of Examination
Paper-I: Computer Based (Objective)
- Subjects: General Hindi (100 Qs) & General English (100 Qs).
- Marks/Time: 200 marks / 2 hours.
- Negative Marking: 0.25 marks per wrong answer.
Paper-II: Descriptive
- Subjects: Translation and Essay.
- Marks/Time: 200 marks / 2 hours.
