The Meghalaya Basin Management Agency (MBMA) has issued an official notification inviting applications from eligible candidates for recruitment to the position of Physical Education Instructor. 

This recruitment drive is being conducted on a contractual basis for the Meghalaya Program for Adolescent Wellbeing, Empowerment and Resilience (MPOWER) project. The project uses a multi-sectoral approach to nurture the holistic development of adolescents aged between 09 and 19 years in Meghalaya.

Educational Qualifications

  • Candidates must have successfully passed a BPE (Bachelor in Physical Education), BPEd, or MPEd (Master of Physical Education) from any recognized Institute, University, or College.
  • Preference will be given to candidates who possess qualifications from institutions recognized by the NCTE.
  • Candidates must demonstrate high proficiency in at least one recognized sports discipline and possess the ability to train adolescents at both foundational and intermediate levels.
  • Special preference will be given to Medal Winners who have participated in recognized Zonal, Regional, National, or International championships.

Essential Work Experience

  • A minimum of 1 to 2 years of active experience in teaching or training adolescents within schools or community-based setups.
  • A sound understanding of the rules, strategies, and tactical components across multiple sports disciplines, alongside the capability to guide adolescents in more than one sport whenever necessary.
  • Prior experience in organizing sports events, athletic competitions, recreational activities, or youth fitness programmes.
  • Proven experience in mentoring adolescents and actively promoting inclusive participation across all genders and physical abilities.
  • Having previous experience working with youth groups, community-led platforms, or established school systems will serve as an added advantage.

Core Requirements & Skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills tailored for engaging diverse adolescent groups.
  • Expertise in basic computer knowledge and digital literacy, specifically word processing, spreadsheets, and PowerPoint presentations for documentation and reporting purposes.
  • Ability to design and deliver age-appropriate, inclusive sports and fitness programs.
  • Practical coaching skills in a primary sport coupled with functional knowledge of multiple sports disciplines.
  • Sound tactical understanding of sports, including modern training methodologies, gameplay strategies, and rules.
  • Complete knowledge of sports safety protocols, injury prevention, and basic first aid.
  • Capability to seamlessly integrate modern sports activities with traditional or local games of Meghalaya.

Important Selection Guidelines

  • Written Test Syllabus: The written examination will evaluate candidates on Subject Matter Knowledge, General Knowledge, Reasoning, and English.
  • No TA/DA: No travelling or daily allowances will be provided for attending the written test or personal interview.
  • NOC for Working Professionals: Candidates currently employed in other services must submit a "No Objection Certificate" (NOC) from their employer during the personal interview.
  • Existing MBDA/MBMA Staff: Existing staff members are eligible to apply if they route their application through their reporting officer, provided they have completed a minimum of one year in their current position.
