The North Eastern Space Applications Centre (NESAC), Umiam, Meghalaya has officially announced a walk-in interview for various temporary, project-based positions. Operating as an autonomous body under the Department of Space, Government of India, NESAC leverages space science and technology to assist the development of the North Eastern Region.

Eligible and interested candidates can attend the walk-in interview scheduled from August 10 to August 12, 2026, at the NESAC campus in Umiam, Ri Bhoi District, Meghalaya.

1. Research Scientist (RS) Positions

RS01 (1 Post) | Interview Date: 11.08.2026

  • Educational Requirement: First Class M.Sc./M.Tech/M.Sc (Tech) or Integrated M.Sc in Geology/Applied Geology/Geophysics/Earth Science. Pre-qualification of B.Sc with Geology as Main/Honors subject is mandatory.
  • Experience Requirement: Minimum 1-year research/work experience in the field of Geo-hazards.

RS02 (1 Post) | Interview Date: 12.08.2026

  • Educational Requirement: First Class M.E./M.Tech and First Class B.E./B.Tech in Computer Science & Engineering/Information Technology.
  • Experience Requirement: Minimum 1-year research/work experience in the relevant field.

RS03 (1 Post) | Interview Date: 12.08.2026

  • Educational Requirement: First Class M.Sc./M.Tech in Disaster Management/Geography/Applied Geography/Geology/Geoinformatics/Geomatics/Remote Sensing & GIS.
  • Experience Requirement: Minimum 1-year research/work experience in the field of Disaster Management Support (DMS).

RS04 (1 Post) | Interview Date: 10.08.2026

  • Educational Requirement: First Class M.Sc./M.Tech in Botany/Forestry/Environmental Science/Remote Sensing/Geoinformatics/Chemistry/Physics/Computer Science with a Graduation degree in Science.
  • Experience Requirement: Minimum 1-year research/work experience in Geoinformatics.

RS05 (1 Post) | Interview Date: 11.08.2026

  • Educational Requirement: First Class M.Sc./M.Tech in Physics/Meteorology/Atmospheric Science/Earth Systems Science.

2. Junior Research Fellow (JRF) Positions

  • Salary: ₹37,000/- per month + applicable HRA and self-medical benefits.

  • Mandatory Criteria: Applicants must possess a valid NET/GATE/JAM/JEST/JGEEBILS/AICE qualification score card.

  • Educational Requirement: First Class M.Sc./M.Tech in Forestry/Environmental Science/Environmental Engineering/Life Science/Remote Sensing & GIS/Geoinformatics/Computer Science & Engineering/Earth System Science/Chemical Engineering alongside a Bachelor’s Degree in Science.

  • Educational Requirement: First Class M.Sc./M.Tech in Physics/Atmospheric Physics/Earth System Science/Chemistry/Environmental Science/Environmental Engineering with a Bachelor's Degree in Science.

JRF03 (1 Post) | Interview Date: 11.08.2026

  • Educational Requirement: M.Sc in Physics/Electronics/Meteorology/Earth Sciences/Atmospheric Sciences OR B.Tech/M.Tech in Physics/ECE/EEE.

  • Educational Requirement: M.Sc/M.Tech in Geology/Applied Geology/Geophysics/Physics/Applied Physics/Earth Science/Earth System Science/Geological Sciences OR B.Tech/M.Tech in CSE with experience in SAR data processing.

JRF10 (1 Post) | Interview Date: 11.08.2026

  • Educational Requirement: M.Sc. in Geological Sciences or equivalent from a recognized university.

3. Project Associate - I (PA-I) Position

  • Salary: ₹31,000/- per month + applicable HRA and self-medical benefits.

PA01 (1 Post) | Interview Date: 10.08.2026

  • Educational Requirement: First Class M.Sc. in Botany/Forestry/Environmental Science.
  • Experience Requirement: Minimum 1-year experience in plant identification.{inAds}

Eligibility & General Benchmarks

  • M.E./M.Tech Degrees: Must have an aggregate minimum of 60% marks (average of all semesters) or a CGPA/CPI grading of 6.5 on a 10-point scale.
  • B.E./B.Tech/M.Sc. Degrees: Must have an aggregate minimum of 65% marks (average of all semesters) or a CGPA/CPI grading of 6.84 on a 10-point scale.
  • Age Relaxation: Upper age limit is relaxed by 5 years for SC/ST candidates and 3 years for OBC candidates. Ex-Servicemen and PwD candidates receive relaxation as per Government of India orders.
  • Important Constraint: Only passed candidates who possess the required qualification as on the date of the interview are eligible. Students awaiting final results are not eligible to apply.

How to Apply & Walk-in-Interview Process

  1. Prepare Biodata: Download the official format from the NESAC website. The Biodata must be neatly typed and printed. Handwritten formats will be rejected.
  2. Document Check: Bring the typed Biodata along with all original certificates/documents supporting your educational qualifications, NET/GATE scores, and experience certificates. A complete set of self-attested photocopies must also be submitted.
  3. No Objection Certificate (NOC): Candidates currently employed under Central/State Governments, PSUs, or Autonomous Bodies must mandatory present an original NOC at the time of the interview.
  4. Reporting Venue: North Eastern Space Applications Centre (NESAC), Umiam, Ri Bhoi District, Meghalaya.
  5. Additional Info: No TA/DA will be provided for attending the interview. Candidates must verify their identity using a Government-issued ID card (Aadhaar, Passport, etc.) before the evaluation process begins.
