Educational Qualifications and Experience Criteria

Draughtsman: Applicants must have passed 10+2 with Science subjects from a recognized educational Board. Along with school education, a two-year certificate in Architecture or Draughtsmanship from a recognized Institute is necessary, OR a two-year National Trade Certificate for Draughtsman (Civil) combined with a minimum of one year of practical trade experience.
Hindi Typist: Candidates need a 10+2 qualification or its equivalent from a recognized Board. They must also possess a verified typing speed of 30 words per minute in Hindi on a computer, which corresponds directly to 9,000 Key Depressions Per Hour (KDPH) based on a standard average of 5 key depressions for each written word.
Store Keeper Technical (SKT): The essential requirement is a 10+2 pass from a recognized Board alongside foundational storekeeping knowledge specifically relating to vehicles or engineering equipment. Desirable traits include either three years of experience in an established stores setup or passing the Class II Course for Storeman Technical as detailed in the Defence Service Regulation.
Operator Communication: Candidates must possess a Matriculation pass from a recognized Board. Additionally, they need a Wireless Operator or Radio Mechanic Certificate from an Industrial Training Institute (ITI), OR a Defence Trade Certificate from an Army Institute with specialized radio technology knowledge, OR must have cleared the Class I Course for Wireless Operator and Key Board under Defence Service Regulations.
Operator Excavating Machinery (OEM) (Ordinary Grade): This trade demands a Matriculation pass from a recognized Board and a valid heavy motor vehicle driving license. Alternatively, an applicant must have a driving license for Dozer/Excavator coupled with six months of operational experience, OR have passed the Class II Course for Operator Excavating Machinery from a Defence establishment.
Electrician: Requires a Matriculation pass from a recognized Board paired with an Auto Electrician certificate from an ITI or equivalent and one year of active experience as an Electrician. Candidates who have cleared the Electrician Class 2 Course as established by the Defence Service Regulations are also eligible.
Age Limitations and Commendable Relaxations
The baseline age requirement for all advertised trades is fixed between 18 years and 27 years. The date of birth for determining eligibility will be calculated strictly as of 01 June 2026.
Upper age relaxations are provided for reserved categories as per prevailing Central Government instructions:
Scheduled Caste & Scheduled Tribe (SC/ST): 5 years of relaxation (Up to 32 years)

Practical & Trade Test Standards
A minimum of 40% marks is required to pass the qualifying Trade Test, which is applicable to the following roles:
Hindi Typist: Typing test @ 30 words per minute in Hindi on Computer, Essay writing, Sentence restructuring, and Letter writing.
Operator Communication: Identification of equipments, Use of standard equipments, Minor trouble shooting, Electrical connection/Required wiring, and Generator/power backup operational knowledge.
Operator Excavating Machinery (Ordinary Grade): Dozing of earth by dozer and Earth excavating & loading of excavated material by excavator.

IMPORTANT POINTS TO NOTE WHILE APPLYING
Gender Restriction: Only Male candidates need to apply. Female candidates are not eligible.
Nationality: Candidates must be a citizen of India, or a person in whose favor an eligibility certificate is issued by the Government, or Gorkhas of Indian domicile (with Permanent Residential Certificate).
Result Awaiting Applicants: Those awaiting results of the final essential qualification exam as on the closing date of application need not apply, as their candidatures will be rejected.
Exemptions for PET: Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD), Ex-Servicemen, Ex-Agniveers, and departmental candidates applying for re-appointment are strictly exempted from undergoing the Physical Efficiency Test (PET).
Non-English/Hindi Documents: Any certificate in a language other than Hindi or English must be attached with an authorized translation in Hindi or English, duly attested by a Group A Gazetted officer.
No Post-Submission Changes: Requests for changes or corrections in any entries of the Application Form, once submitted, will not be entertained under any circumstances.
Nature of Tests: The Physical Efficiency Test (PET) and Trade Test (TT) are purely qualifying in nature. The final merit list is derived exclusively based on the marks scored in the written examination, subject to passing the PET, TT, and Primary Medical Examination (PME).
Electronic Gadget Prohibition: Mobile Phones and all forms of electronic gadgets are strictly banned inside the campus of GREF Centre, Pune during any stage of the recruitment process.
No Re-Evaluation: There is no provision for re-evaluation or re-checking of OMR scores or answer sheets. No correspondence in this regard will be entertained.
How to Apply: Step-by-Step Application Submission Process
Download the official application form and admit card from the Border Roads Organisation website.
Print the application form on high-quality A4 size bond paper (75 GSM) using only one side of the paper. The admit card must be printed on both sides of a single sheet.
