Eligibility Criteria

To apply for the Platoon Havildar position, candidates must fulfill the following requirements:

  • Citizen Status: Must be an Indian citizen and a domicile of Meghalaya.
  • Current Status: Must be a Homeguards Volunteer currently deployed/engaged with various Requisitioning Agencies.
  • Experience: Must have a total deployment period of 5 years (1825 days).
  • Age Limit: The upper age limit is 50 years as of 11th March 2026.
  • Training: Must possess a Home Guards Basic Training Certificate.

Salary and Benefits

Selected volunteers will be enrolled under the Highly Skilled Category. Monthly honoraria will be paid at the rates prescribed by the Department of Labour, Employment & Skill Development, Govt. of Meghalaya, including a Risk Allowance as prescribed by the State Government.

Documents Required for Application

The application filed in the standard form should be submitted along with attested copies of the following:

  1. 2 copies of a recent passport-size photograph (one pasted on the form).
  2. Educational Qualification Certificate.
  3. Birth Certificate or Age Certificate as per school records.
  4. EPIC Card of Meghalaya.
  5. Home Guards Basic Training Certificate.
  6. Medical Fitness Certificate from an Authorized Government Medical Practitioner.
  7. Deployment Period Certificate issued by the District Commandant/Officers Commanding in the prescribed format.

How to Apply

Step 1: Obtain the detailed notice and Standard Form from the District Home Guards Commandant offices (Shillong, Jowai, Tura), District Training Centres, or Civil Defence Offices across Meghalaya Districts.

Step 2: Fill out the application and attach self-attested copies of all required testimonials.

Step 3: Submit the application to your respective District Home Guards Office / Civil Defence Office where you are currently deployed.

Interview Details: Personal Interviews will be conducted at Tura and Shillong centers for eligible candidates. Selected candidates will be required to serve in remote border areas bordering Bangladesh.
