Eligibility Criteria for BSNL JTO Vacancy 2026
Educational Qualifications
Candidates must have completed their degree before the closing date of the application. The required educational qualifications include:
- Bachelor of Engineering (B.E. / B.Tech) degree or equivalent from a recognized University or Institution in any of the following streams: Telecommunications, Electronics, Radio, Computer, Electrical, Information Technology (IT), or Instrumentation.
- Postgraduate Degrees: M.Sc. in Electronics or M.Sc. in Computer Science.
- Higher Qualifications: Candidates holding higher certifications like M.Tech in the respective fields are also fully eligible to apply.
Age Limit (As of July 3, 2026)
- Minimum Age: 20 Years
- Maximum Age: 30 Years for Unreserved / EWS candidates
Upper Age Relaxations
- OBC (Non-Creamy Layer): Relaxable up to 33 years
- SC / ST: Relaxable up to 35 years
- PwBD (Unreserved/EWS): Relaxable up to 40 years
- BSNL Employees (Unreserved/EWS): Relaxable up to 35 years

Selection Process & CBT Exam Pattern
The selection will be done strictly through a nationwide Computer-Based Test (CBT) consisting of Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQs). The exam spans a total duration of 3 hours and features a maximum score of 480 marks divided across 120 questions.
Sectional Distribution
- Section I (Engineering Stream Section 1): 50 Questions | 200 Marks
- Section II (Engineering Stream Section 2): 50 Questions | 200 Marks
- Section III (General Ability Test): 20 Questions | 80 Marks
Marking Scheme & Qualifying Marks
- Positive Marking: +4 marks for every correct answer.
- Negative Marking: -1 mark for every incorrect response.
- Minimum Qualifying Cut-off: General and OBC(CL) candidates must secure at least 40% in each individual section and a total aggregate of 50% across all sections combined. For SC, ST, OBC(NCL), PwBD, and EWS candidates, the required minimum is 35% in each section and 45% in aggregate.{inAds}
Service Bond & Probation
- Selected candidates will be placed on a probation period of two years.
- At the time of joining, recruits are required to sign a mandatory service bond committing to serve the organization for at least 5 years, with a liability amount of Rs. 6 Lakhs.
