Upper Age Relaxations
- Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) candidates receive an upper age relaxation of 5 years.
- Other Backward Classes (OBC) candidates receive an upper age relaxation of 3 years.

They must hold a Diploma or Degree in Pharmacy granted by an institution recognized by either the Central or State Government and must be actively registered as a "Pharmacist" under the Pharmacy Act, 1948.

Relaxed Standards for Specific Regions (Including Meghalaya)
Candidates belonging to the Scheduled Tribes or hailing from northeastern states enjoy relaxed physical standards:
- Candidates hailing from Meghalaya, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, Tripura, Jammu & Kashmir, and Ladakh: The relaxed height standard is 165 Cms for males and 155 Cms for females. The chest requirement for these male candidates remains 80 to 85 Cms. Candidates must produce a valid Domicile or Permanent Resident Certificate (PRC) at the time of documentation to claim this relaxation.
- All Scheduled Tribe (ST) Candidates: The physical requirement is relaxed to a minimum height of 162.5 Cms for males and 154 Cms for females. The chest dimension required for male ST candidates is 77 to 82 Cms.
Weight & Medical Parameters
Candidate weight must be strictly proportionate to height and age parameters based on official medical rules. While weight is registered during physical screening, the ultimate decision regarding fitness or elimination concerning weight is taken during the formal Medical Examination stage. Candidates must possess good mental and bodily health and be free from structural defects like knock knees, flat feet, varicose veins, or squints in the eyes. Tattoos depicting religious symbols or names are permitted only if they are positioned on traditional areas like the inner left forearm or the dorsum of the hand and must measure less than 1/4th of the respective body part's total area.
Comprehensive Recruitment Selection Structure
The multi-tiered recruitment sequence is formulated through the following phases, although the specific sequence may interchange due to administrative reasons:
Phase 1: Written Examination (OMR/CBT Mode)
The assessment will be an objective-type, multiple-choice questionnaire valued at a maximum of 100 marks to be finished within a 2-hour timeframe. The paper tests specific technical and trade knowledge relative to the applied medical posts. The examination is bilingual (administered in English and Hindi) with zero negative marking applied to wrong answers. If conducted across multiple shifts, a normalization mechanism will adjust candidate marks to determine merit placement.
Phase 2: Physical Standard Test (PST) & Documentation
Candidates qualifying the written test will be shortlisted for the physical screening at a ratio of approximately 5 times the vacancy count. Those meeting height and chest guidelines advance directly to documentation. Biometric credentials (thumb impressions) will be registered right before testing to track authentic candidates across subsequent stages. During documentation, candidates must present original copies and one self-attested photocopy set of the following documents:
- Matriculation / 10th pass certificate as reliable proof of birth date.
- 10+2 educational certificates and relevant pharmacy or laboratory diplomas/degrees.
- Caste/Category certificates (SC, ST, OBC, or EWS) in the accurate formats prescribed by the department.
- Domicile or Permanent Resident Certificate (PRC) to substantiate relaxed physical height benefits for regions like Meghalaya.
- Four recent passport-size colored photographs indicating the clear date of printing (not older than three months from publication).
- A valid original Photo ID proof matchable with application data (Aadhaar Card, PAN Card, Voter Card, or Driving License).
Phase 3: Basic Vocational Aptitude Test (BVAT)
Candidates clearing the PST and document verification will undergo a specialized trade-based aptitude test designed to evaluate fundamental skill readiness for medical roles. The BVAT acts purely as a qualifying stage.
Phase 4: Medical Examination
Qualified individuals face a Detailed Medical Examination (DME) supervised by Medical Boards. If a candidate is declared unfit, they can provide written consent within 24 hours to undergo a Review Medical Examination (RME), which is usually conducted the following day. The final selection list is generated strictly based on marks scored in the initial written test matching the vacancy breakdown.{inAds}
