Eligibility Criteria & Educational Qualifications
To apply for these technical posts, candidates must have acquired the required qualifications on or before the last date of application submission (June 23, 2026). The date of result declaration by your Board or University will be treated as the date of acquiring the degree.
Instructor in Carpentry Shop: Must have passed at least Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) and possess a pass certificate in the Trade of Carpentry from a recognized ITI/Technical Institute affiliated with NCVT, DGT, New Delhi.
Instructor in Welding Shop: Must have passed at least SSLC and possess a pass certificate in the Trade of Welding from an NCVT/DGT-recognized ITI or Technical Institute.
Instructor in Smithy Shop: Must have passed at least SSLC along with a pass in the Trade of Smithy (Blacksmith) conducted by an NCVT/DGT recognized ITI or Technical Institute.
Instructor in Fitting & Sheet Metal Shop: Requires at least an SSLC pass combined with a pass certificate in the Trade of Fitter/Sheet Metal from a recognized ITI/Technical Institute (NCVT/DGT), along with practical experience in Sheet Metal fitting.
Instructor in Electrical Shop: Requires at least an SSLC pass and a pass certificate in the Trade of Electrical from a recognized ITI/Technical Institute affiliated with NCVT, DGT, New Delhi.
Instructor in Drafting/Tracing Shop: Must have passed at least SSLC and hold a pass certificate in the Trade of Draughtsman (Civil/Mechanical) from a recognized ITI/Technical Institute affiliated with NCVT, DGT, New Delhi.{inAds}
Age Limit & Relaxations
Upper Age Limit: Candidates must not be more than 32 years old as of July 1, 2026.
SC/ST Relaxation: A standard relaxation of 5 years is applicable for SC/ST candidates (making the upper age limit 37 years).
Government Servants: There is no upper age limit for candidates who are already serving in the Meghalaya Government, provided they initially entered the service within the prescribed age limits.
Age Proof: The board will only accept the Date of Birth recorded in your Matriculation/SSLC certificate or equivalent official register certified by the Board of School Education.
Application Fee & Payment Mode
Applicants are required to pay a non-refundable fee through the online system:
General/UR Candidates: Rs. 460/-
SC/ST Candidates: Half the standard rate (Rs. 230/-) for permanent residents of the State of Meghalaya.
Payment Methods: Fees can be securely paid via Debit cum ATM cards, Credit Cards, Net Banking, or UPI. Note that standard bank commissions may apply depending on your chosen payment mode.
Selection Process
The final selection and recommendation of successful candidates by the MERB will follow one of these procedures:
A Written Examination using the Multiple Choice Question (MCQ) format, followed by a Personal Interview.
Short-listing of applicants based on updated MERB norms, directly followed by a Personal Interview.
Important Note: Only candidates who successfully clear the preliminary screenings and produce all original documents (educational certificates, age proof, caste certificates) during verification will be considered qualified for the Personal Interview stage.{inAds}
