The organization has launched a Special Recruitment Drive specifically for OBC candidates to fill 27 backlog vacancies for the position of Engineering Executive Trainees (EET) in the Civil Engineering discipline. This recruitment is being conducted based on valid GATE 2025 scores.

Eligibility Criteria & Qualification Standards

To apply for the NTPC Civil EET recruitment, candidates must satisfy the following academic and age parameters as specified in the official notification:

Educational Qualification: Candidates must possess a Full-Time Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Technology, or an AMIE in Civil Engineering / Construction Engineering. The minimum aggregate score required is 65% marks as per university norms. For PwBD candidates, the minimum qualifying mark is relaxed to 55%. Furthermore, all qualifications must be obtained from an Indian University or Institute recognized by AICTE or an appropriate statutory authority.

GATE 2025 Requirement: Aspiring candidates must have appeared and qualified in the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2025. The corresponding GATE paper must be Civil Engineering with the paper code CE. Please note that only marks from the GATE 2025 session are valid for this recruitment cycle.

Age Limit & Relaxations The upper age limit is fixed at 30 years as on the last date of the online application (May 29, 2026).

The upper age limit is relaxed by 10 years for PwBD-OBC candidates.

Age relaxation for Ex-Servicemen (XSM) candidates is applicable as per the Government of India guidelines.

OBC candidates belonging to the "Creamy Layer" are not entitled to concessions, and OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) applicants must present a valid certificate issued in the current financial year in the central format valid for FY 2026-27.

Selection Process & Training Period

The selection methodology is straightforward and merit-based:

Shortlisting: Eligible candidates who submit applications through the portal will be shortlisted for document verification based purely on their performance and score in the GATE 2025 examination.

Provisional Offer: Shortlisted candidates meeting all the advertised eligibility criteria will be extended an "Offer of Appointment".

Medical Fitness: Before joining, selected individuals must pass a medical examination conducted by the NTPC Medical Board or Officer, whose decision remains final.

Training & Posting: Appointed candidates will undergo a mandatory one-year training program at various locations across India. Final postings will be assigned post-training, and candidates must be willing to work in shift operations (including night shifts) at various power plants or subsidiaries.

Service Agreement Bond Selected candidates must execute a service bond to serve the corporation for a minimum period of 3 years following the successful completion of their one-year training. The bond amount is Rs. 5,00,000 for OBC candidates and Rs. 2,50,000 for PwBD categories.
