The Directorate of Employment & Craftsmen Training (DECT), Government of Meghalaya, has released an official recruitment advertisement for the position of Manager - Placement & Industry Linkage. This recruitment is being conducted on a contractual basis for an initial period of 1 year (extendable) under the high-priority project "Supporting Human Capital Development in Meghalaya Phase II". Eligibility Criteria & Qualifications

To be considered for the DECT Meghalaya Manager vacancy, candidates must fulfill the following educational and experience requirements:

Educational Qualifications

  • Mandatory: Master’s Degree in any discipline from a recognized University.
  • Preferred: Candidates holding qualifications or certifications in Human Resource Management, Marketing, Business Administration, Career Counselling, Labour & Employment, Social Work, Development Studies, or related fields are highly encouraged to apply.
  • Knowledge Domain: Familiarity with Central and State Government Skill Development Programs, employment services, and deep knowledge of local industries in Meghalaya and the North East Region.

Professional Experience

  • A minimum of 3 years of post-qualification experience in industry relations, employer engagement, business development, recruitment, placement services, stakeholder management, marketing and outreach, human resource management, or skill development and livelihood programmes.
  • Demonstrated experience in liaising with employers, institutions, government agencies, industry bodies, or community stakeholders.
  • Prior experience in organizing large-scale events, job fairs, recruitment drives, awareness campaigns, outreach activities, or partnership initiatives will serve as an added advantage.
  • Proven capability to mobilize employers, negotiate collaborations, and facilitate employment, apprenticeship, internship, or training opportunities.

Purpose of the Role & Key Responsibilities

The primary objective of the Manager - Placement & Industry Linkage is to strengthen the employability and career outcomes of Industrial Training Institute (ITI) trainees across Meghalaya.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Industry Engagement: Identify, establish, and maintain strategic partnerships with employers, sector associations, and placement agencies both within and outside Meghalaya. Maintain a comprehensive database of employers and recruiters.
  • Placement & Apprenticeship Services: Plan and execute placement drives, job fairs, apprenticeship melas, and campus interviews across Government ITIs. Facilitate apprenticeship opportunities under NAPS/NATS.
  • Career Counseling: Provide robust career guidance, interview preparation support, and crucial labor market information to ITI trainees.
  • Labor Market Alignment: Assess changing market demands to support trade planning and collect industry feedback regarding curriculum relevance.
  • MIS & Reporting: Maintain all placement records digitally via the State MIS - IDECT (Integrated Digital Ecosystem for Craftsmen Training) and prepare tracking reports.
